Devon Schad and Kelli Thatcher are two enthusiastic Limmud Volunteers. When asked what they think is most exciting about Limmud, Devon and Kelli reply, “meeting people from different parts of Colorado and the world. It will be a great experience for us to meet people who share the same religion and culture, but a different viewpoint on that religion and culture that we may not otherwise encounter.”
As the chair of the Marketing/Outreach Committee, Kelli is responsible for making sure that everyone is keeping up with their own projects and she takes on any tasks that need to be completed. She works closely with the web designer and printers and works hard to make sure that everyone is enjoying what they are doing. Devon is a member of the Marketing/Outreach Committee and helped to design Limmud Colorado’s save the date cards and the layout of the website. He has also contributed photos that he has taken to various marketing materials.
Devon and Kelli became involved through an initial meeting in June of 2007 and thought it would be a great event. “I think it is a great conference, and can see it being a permanent event in Colorado,” says Devon. “It would be a great achievement to start something that will be around for years to come.” Kelli shares, “I hope to get the word out there about Limmud Colorado and go above and beyond our goal for the amount of those who attend.”
When they’re not working on Limmud, Devon works as Director of Development for the Zeta Beta Tau Foundation, and Kelli as the HR Wellness Coordinator for Ball Aerospace & Technologies Corp, not to mention planning their wedding. Devon and Kelli met in High School about ten years ago. They were friends for many years and made the transition to dating during college. Devon and Kelli got engaged at the Boulder Jewish Festival last summer and will be married in August 2008. About the same time they got engaged, they bought a home in Louisville and got a puppy named Chip. They both share a passion for snowboarding and sushi.
